Ads are Coming to ChatGPT

You know what chatGPT is so lets cut to the topic of this article.

Ads are coming to ChatGPT

ChatGPT now serves over 100 million weekly active users but not all of them are subscribed to their paid plan , only a small percentage.

Still OpenAI serves them free of cost with ton of infomation.

If you think how? The Answer is companies like Nvidia and Microsoft who made it possible from economic and infrastructure perspective.

But you ever wondered why? why its free? Tool so powerful, why its free?

There are many benefits to the company, first and foremost being data. OpenAI has access to all the chats.

They admit on website that there engineeres review the messages and they encourage not to put any sensitive information when chatting with ChatGPT.

Even if a normal user tries not to put anything sensitive , a lot of information gets passed to it without us knowing it and once passed it cannot be deleted.

ChatGPT recently modified their UI, before it was gray in color and evenly spaced. Now its black in color and everything is lot smaller than before. The fonts, the buttons etc.

Notice the amount of empty space this UI has. There can be many reasons for this such as making it responsive for every device out there, but it was already good, wasn't it? It was working good on mobile devices as well, still they made the change.

Its seems that ads are coming to free version of ChatGPT , slowly but surely.

There is also one recent event that points to this , the firing of Sam Altman , CEO of OpenAI, now former CEO.

There are reports that he was going aggressive about monetizing the platform. The company officially said different words.

"Mr. Altman’s departure follows a deliberative review process by the board, which concluded that he was not consistently candid in his communications with the board, hindering its ability to exercise its responsibilities. The board no longer has confidence in his ability to continue leading OpenAI"

How long do you think they are going to serve 100 million users per week without getting any returns?

It was no secret that they would monetize the free version but it seems now is the time.

Some users on reddit reported that they have experienced ads on paid version as well. This proves that they are testing it.
